Colombia has four districts so far, however the creation of new districts is granted by the Constitution for any grouping of municipalities that fullfit certain requisites. An intermediate association is called a Metropolitan Area.
Bogotá, Capital District, in Central Colombia. Bogotá is also the Capital of Cundinamarca but the administration is autonomous.
Barranquilla, Port & Industrial District, in Atlántico, Colombia Northern Coast
Cartagena, Tourist & Cultural District, in Bolivar, Colombia Northern Coast
Santa Marta, Tourist, Cultural & Historic District, in Magdalena, Colombia Northern Coast
Metropolitan Area of Aburrá Valley ("Medellín"), including the capital of Antioquia.
Metropolitan Area of Bucaramanga, including the capital of Santander.
Metropolitan Area of Cúcuta, including the capital of Norte de Santander.
Metropolitan Area of Barranquilla, including the capital of Atlántico.
Metropolitan Area of Pereira, including the capital of Risaralda.
