Uptimer Carlos Eugenio Thompson Pinzón arrived downtown the 23rd September, 1810. He soon adopted the name of Carlos Eugenio Tomás Pinzón García, using Pinzón as his main last name. While earlier known as Carlos Pinzón, he adopted the name of Comandante Tomás during his time as an underground militia leader in the mountains of Antioquia and the valleys of Chocó. With the grade of General, he has used the common name of Tomás Pinzón since the creation of the Free State of Darien.
